At TMDP, we often become so focused on delivering projects that we rarely stop to reflect on everything we have achieved.
Looking back over the past twelve months, one thing has become very clear – it has been our busiest and most diverse year to date.
From nationally recognised listed buildings to commercial developments, hospitality refurbishments, new homes, planning appeals and Principal Designer appointments under the Building Safety Act, our team has continued to support clients throughout every stage of the construction process.
Heritage Buildings Remain at the Heart of What We Do
Historic buildings continue to form a significant part of our workload.
During the past year we have prepared numerous Listed Building Consent applications, Heritage Statements, Design & Access Statements and specialist repair schedules for buildings dating back hundreds of years.
Our work has included:
Grade II and Grade II* listed public houses
Historic town centre commercial properties
Traditional timber framed buildings
Thatched buildings
Conservation Area developments
Heritage impact assessments
Repair specifications for buildings suffering structural movement, decay and water ingress
Working closely with Local Planning Authorities, Conservation Officers and Historic England guidance, we have helped clients secure appropriate consents whilst ensuring the historic significance of these important buildings is protected for future generations.
Supporting the Hospitality Sector
The hospitality industry remains one of TMDP’s specialist sectors.
Over the last twelve months we have successfully delivered refurbishment, repair and improvement projects across numerous public houses, restaurants and hospitality venues throughout the Midlands and beyond.
Our commissions have included:
External repair and redecoration programmes
Roof renewals and structural repairs
Listed building repairs
Interior refurbishment projects
Accessibility improvements
Planned maintenance programmes
Dilapidation and condition surveys
Building pathology investigations
Many of these projects have been delivered whilst businesses remained operational, requiring careful planning, phased construction and close coordination with clients and contractors.
Planning Successes
Planning continues to be one of our core disciplines.
Throughout the year we have prepared and submitted applications covering:
New residential developments
Extensions and alterations
Commercial developments
Listed Building Consent
Change of use applications
Retrospective applications
Planning Statements
Design & Access Statements
Heritage Impact Assessments
Our approach combines strong technical knowledge with practical commercial understanding, giving clients clear advice from the outset and helping maximise the likelihood of successful outcomes.
Project Management from Concept to Completion
TMDP continues to provide full project management services across projects of all sizes.
Our team has successfully managed schemes from initial feasibility through planning, technical design, tendering, construction and final handover.
Working alongside trusted contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers, we ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with a clear focus on quality, programme and budget.
Expanding Our Principal Designer Role
The introduction of the Building Safety Act has significantly changed the construction industry.
Over the past year we have continued expanding our role as Principal Designer, supporting clients with compliance under both the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and the Building Regulations Principal Designer duties.
This allows clients to benefit from a coordinated service where design, compliance and project delivery are managed together from a single consultancy.
Growing With Our Clients
Perhaps our greatest achievement has been the number of repeat commissions we continue to receive.
Long-standing relationships remain at the centre of everything we do, with many clients returning to TMDP time and again because they value our practical advice, responsive service and collaborative approach.
Whether delivering a £20,000 repair project or managing multi-million-pound developments, every commission receives the same level of commitment and professional attention.
Investing in the Future
Over the past year we have also continued investing in the future of both our business and the wider construction industry.
We have supported university placements, provided work experience opportunities, expanded our professional knowledge through continued CPD, strengthened our heritage expertise and continued developing new services to meet the changing needs of our clients.
Looking Ahead
The coming year promises to be just as exciting.
With further heritage projects, commercial developments, hospitality refurbishments, Principal Designer appointments and planning commissions already underway, TMDP continues to grow whilst remaining true to the values that have shaped the practice since its formation.
We would like to thank all of our clients, consultants, contractors and professional partners for their continued trust and support.
We look forward to working with both existing and new clients over the next twelve months.
